Nick Milevski instantly saluted and supported the idea of merging and organizing of Macedonian Entrepreneurs in USA and is one of the initial members. He enters the word of entrepreneurship at a young age of 20, when he joined the family business -Tommy’s Deli & Pizzeria.
Afterwards he became the owner of several successful businesses and companies, and from 2010 he started another family business-,”The Firehouse Family Restaurant,” a warm place with great food in the town of Garfield, NJ. Nick always speaks proudly of his Macedonian lineage and is quite active in the Macedonian- American community. Nick and his wife Nancy are longtime residents of Garfield and proud parents of two wonderful sons Cristian and Antoni.

Milevski is the first American with Macedonian origin who has been nominated for City Council in the USA and he wishes to pave the way for the future Macedonian politicians in America. When we were passing through Garfield we noticed several locations with banners and lawn signs supporting you and Tony Lio.
1. What is your platform based on?
I would like to implement new technologies along with fresh ideas to make life better for all citizens. I believe that we can make Garfield one of the most desired towns to live in Bergen County.
2. What would you like to improve in the life of the citizens of Garfield?
The quality of the streets needs to be improved. We would also implement regulations regarding the appearance of properties. Have more police presence to troubles areas in town.
3. Do you rely on the support of the Macedonian community only, or you count on the support of the other communities as well?
Four years ago I lost by only 80 votes. There are not enough Macedonians to win this election with only their support. This time I have support from the Italian, Albanian, and Polish diaspora and of course from the Americans. I feel more confident that more people will turn out and vote this time.
4. What is your message for the citizens of Garfield?
To get more involved in the city elections. I would especially like to see more Macedonians involved. When more citizens’ get involved we can address their concerns more efficiently
5. These elections take place simultaneously with the presidential elections where Trump and Hillary are the main favorites. Can that, in any way, impact locally?
Of course, I expect more people to vote for president, meaning that more people would vote for the new candidates for City Council. Voter turnout is crucial for my success in winning this race.
6. What are your future plans?
Who knows what the future holds, I may want to run for a higher office in New Jersey with the support of my family. I can say with certainty that I have a passion for politics; it’s in my nature to help others.
7. Soon, the elections in Macedonia will take place; do you have a message for the Macedonian politicians?
As a Macedonian living in America I would like to see less interference from the West or in fact any other neighboring country in Macedonia. I am in full support of registering and having the diaspora vote for their favorite candidate in upcoming elections.
